"One-party rule is synonymous with dictatorship..."

Quite right, Ms. Root. And the USA has been a one-party state for some time. The $ party: It has two right wings.
Maybe it began with the Powell Memo in 1971. "The memo called for corporate America to become more aggressive in molding society's thinking about business, government, politics and law in the US." (Wiki)

The corporate coup d'etat was complete by 2000: "Government" of the $, by the $ and for the $. Sure, We stand for freedom and rights. Doesn't everybody? It's been flim-flam war-porn spectacle ever since. Now they just removed the stage-set and we howl at the brick wall at the back of the theater.

Conservative means prevention of injury, decay, waste or loss. Have you seen any of that? The $ start wars, neglect critical infrastructure, throw away trillions for killing and kleptocracy and lose or destroy everything they claim to value. Are you tired of $ worthless “values?”

Here’s what we can do: cut military spending in half. End the “war on terror.” It’s a fraud. Stop the “war on drugs.” It’s a lie. Overhaul the criminal just-us system and eliminate the prison business. Reverse privatization by nationalizing every essential industry and making management accountable to citizens… which is what we used to be before we became “consumers.”

Begin with real elections and not the hackable kabuki theatre orchestrated by privatized voting machines with proprietary software. The Germans have outlawed electronic voting because they know what happens when government is not open, transparent and honest. We can leave international war-crime prosecution of both U$ administrations for a later date.

Right now we must denounce the “deficit hawks” for what they are: ignorant bumpkins or evil opportunists. Sure, it's time to "speak out." But it's not about "rights," it's about reality. Energy. Environment. Economy. Peace. Real issues Real people. Not Corporations. Not The $. Keep it real.

The Reagan era was very effective in it's efforts: change the corporate tax codes to incentivize short-term profit taking rather than reinvestment in research and development, making it profitable to move manufacturing off-shore, while mounting an aggressive attack on Unions which were already weakened by the lessening numbers of manufacturing jobs.  Just say yes to mandatory sentencing on drug laws was picked up with enthusiasm by Slick Willie who followed the money with his triangulating New Democrat neoliberalism.

All that is left - on both sides of the aisle - to differentiate them is identity politics.  No wonder we are encouraged to get angry at the Other - it diverts attention from what the .1% continues to do to us.

The Intercept is producing podcasts now. Good stuff.

At this point, If I said what I wanted to say, I'd probably go to jail.

I would love to share that whole thing.....

That is lovely. So glad you are back with this little group.

Is that felting?  Jo purchased some wool while we were in Latvia with the intention of felting but....life gets full.

We are planting like our lives depend upon it. Florida is unseasonably hot, even for Florida.

thank you Pan, dry felting using the Janome Embellisher, like a sewing machine but very light in weight, no thread, just barbed needles in a cluster, and you can combine many fabrics.

tis mild here with thick cloud from the continent (Europe) leaning over us and possibly leering.

have made a path of gravel on my lurcher's run again
where she weaves wild eights of wind blasting by,
sometimes squeaking a toy at high speed with joy.
