Life in the Empire

Perfection!

Whose round is it?

Like Bo I gave up raising my glass
through the air to my lips

So.
This is the nearest I ever get to a quiet bar where
if you're lucky
someone rare may
break those log jams and let the whole torrent of the river run
between banks of fascinating forests of deep and ancient woodland
and hills
and even little towns.

I like my evenings mellow. I come here to help me sail these waters. Just thought I'd mention that, so everybody knows, what kind of an atmosphere I generally inhabit, as you will know if you know. So, just saying, tra la,
that if this lady has been quiet lately
it could be for good reason, or it could just be passing by I noticed a bit of a ruckus and had to get on with trains of thought that wouldn't be helped by fighting in the corner. Busy girls aren't we all dears? Pull up a chair, dooooooooooo.

And now, for the evening's quiet reflection,
may I suggest this theme:

catch more flies with honey.

And just in case you thought it was safe here, on the island, here is an introduction to the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre.
I have begun my preparation for brewing another winter's batch of Sahti - Ms. Medusa's favorite. I have a batch of starter Irish yeast multiplying in the basement brew/laundry/dye room.

The cooler and wetter summer this year has led to a bumper crop of juniper berries to flavor the brew. Meanwhile, the Hyacynth Flower Belgian-style Trippel has been in the bottle a week and should be ready to drink in another 7 days.
You lucky man.

My dear Auntie Teri, who gave me my freedom by telling me the truth,
she made wine and rich dark sweet somethings that went well with the roaring wind and lurching flames on the hearth in her solitary home upon the hill.
She gardened like a dream. There was not a break between her and nature, all wild together in seed and plant, tending invisibly beside the rain there in that old place by the ancient fort.

Her shed, used for storage or keeping hens over the last century or so was truly a fifteenth century cottage, all there, wonderful. Small and sufficient, made of stone and wood, and full of murky dim objects and a kingdom of cobwebs.
Bageant's Shoot the fat guys, hang the smokers

There are a million ways to be smug and the American left holds the copyright on three quarters of them. Down inside most lefties feel superior to the majority of Americans for the simple reason that they are indeed superior. Morally superior (at least in the justice sense), intellectually and politically superior too, if you exclude every member of the Democratic Party. However, the American left is void of compassion, the thing that is at the very heart of the true left the world round. And by true left I mean the people dying for the cause in places we never heard of and never will.
"However, the American left is void of compassion, the thing that is at the very heart of the true left the world round. And by true left I mean the people dying for the cause in places we never heard of and never will."

Probably has something to do with the amount of energy the left expends in keeping their own demons at bay--real and imaginary. Both smoking and over-eating can be explained by simply trying to cope in such an unholy place.
Warning, you need a good connection for this page to work I think: http://www.ethericwarriors.com/ip/viewtopic.php?t=1731&postdays...

Well whoever these chaps are who are messing about with the weather, their lack of compassion is pretty evident, twiddling the knobs on the famine machine.

I've been looking at the above forum with difficulty because it keeps on freezing my screen, but worth the trouble. Very interesting.
My dog is nocturnal. She likes to sit in the dark listening to the little mice and shrews, the beetles, the snails and the hedgehogs.
One afternoon between naps she brought me a bird delicately in her mouth
and dropped it at my feet where I caught it and put it up in the air out the door
and it flew away.
Our diabetic, arthritic old cat is still a good birder. Unfortunately he isn't so delicate with his catch - doesn't eat them but his play is fatal.
That page freezes my browser as well. Not sure what theories are being promoted, but the idea that the government is messing with the weather is just one more reason to want to do away with them.

Regarding the weather...What kind of false promises will Obama make in Coppenhagen next month?
