Willingen ski jumping

Of all things to do with a perfectly free Saturday. I'm headed for Willingen in Hessen to witness the team jumping. Well, don't look at me like that, it wasn't my idea! Jeez! I had this wild idea about taking my US flag with me and flying it upside down for the cameras. After watching a few videos, I decided to leave that be. Besides, ABC Sports would edit that part out anyway.

Winter is holding on tight, the lakes are still frozen over after more than 6 weeks of freezing weather. It hasn't been as cold lately but that east wind! The flu has taken its toll on us all. I feel like I'm coming down with a second bout. Got my Flachman filled with single malt, longjohns and ski pants ready. It'll be me and a neighbor/friend without our better halfs. It was their idea ! I wonder what they're gonna do all day? I guess as long as it makes them happy it's okay.


P.S. We have tickets for the E/F area, looking uphill, that's the top part of the right side.....the left as seen from the jumper's view. Wish you could be there too.

ya crazy ol coot... i hope the "shit-i-dont-bounce-as-good-as-i-used-to" moment is not as hard for you as it was for me. ya coulda done that at Aspen, ya know.

cracked me wrist the other day with a close ice encounter... (shit i dont balance as good as i used to either)... and now trying to get me string fingers back for a faculty guitar challenge. so i takes off me brace an picks until i gets both blisters and wrist-crack ouchies. nice. cant see-balance-bounce-play as good as before... but still kindooit. heh.

That was W I L D !!

It rained all day. Everybody got wet and from what I could see, most of the 18,500 were more than just a little bit tipsy. It was one huge outdoor party and I made it back home in one piece, without any bruises and with almost all the money I had on me. Pictures (125) of yesterday's event, the very first Team Tour Worldcup Ski Jumping are now on-line. The WebCam can be found here. A short video stream here and I think I saw myself in there dancing around, boppin' to the music with my brand new official 2009 Team Tour Germany baseball cap on. Yup.
