The one possible silver lining - though I think is more akin to pewter - is that resistance to Trump was started immediately.  With Clinton there would be much of the same "progressive" complacency that we saw that past eight years that excused Obama's more odiious policies.

Wonder how long before the US is considered a second world country? Seems as though the US has become very much like Mexico with a corrupt government, no middle class and no opportunities for those not already connected to the prevailing crime families. Like Mexico's el presidente, Trump seems fitting for a country that's long ceased to be a democracy. Second world counties need a despot and militarized police to keep the populace under control. At least we aren't third-world yet.
