Here's a decent article on how the US and global economy were 'lost.' (Stolen is a better word IMHO)

How the Economy Was Lost
by Paul Craig Roberts via OpEd news.
Verizon CEO's 2008 compensation tops $20 million

Profit grew 16% in '08, but Verizon CEO Seidenberg's compensation fell slightly.
By Ann Bednarz , NetworkWorld.com 3/02/09

Ivan Seidenberg, chairman and CEO of Verizon Communications, took home roughly $20.2 million in compensation - including pay, vested stock and exercised option awards - in 2008, according to documents filed last week with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

I'm not complaining. Feb's paycheck was a fat one for me too. Same creepy Co. btw. No, I'm not complaining, just very fucking jealous and wondering what I would do with all that money. Friends, (imho) as long as CEOs net that much per annum, as long as it's still as commonplace as it is today, we will not see justice. And guess what.....Ivan's yearly earnings were DOWN compared to 2007.
Okay, forget Ivan and his millions. Not very helpful.

I checked my e-mail inbox and found this from Serguei ;

Does this make any sense ? I find it interesting enough to watch the video a 2nd time and try to apply Serguei's logic to my probable near-future situation. Bartering is nothing new for many of us but the balancing of the bartering loop & the cash loop is new to me.
Essentially, the chart represents forced subsidization by the middle class.

Problem is; there's no more blood left in the rock. That's why it--business as usual--ain't gonna work no mo.
OMG, who farted?

Orlov: Social Collapse Best Practices: http://fora.tv/2009/02/13/Dmitry_Orlov_Social_Collapse_Best_Practic...

oy the irony.
thanks. Bro. This is creepy but as real as it gets. The full transcript is available HERE for those without speakers....like me just now. Heavy Horses aren't such a bad idea, but then again, Orlov says ........
"One final transportation idea: start breeding donkeys. Horses are finicky and expensive, but donkeys can be very cost-effective and make good pack animals. My grandfather had a donkey while he was living in Tashkent in Central Asia during World War II. There was nothing much for the donkey to eat, but, as a member of the Communist Party, my grandfather had a subscription to Pravda, the Communist Party newspaper, and so that’s what the donkey ate. Apparently, donkeys can digest any kind of cellulose, even when it’s loaded with communist propaganda. If I had a donkey, I would feed it the Wall Street Journal."
That clip & article, Orlov and his message ...all wrapped into one was very humorous, enlightening, entertaining, educative and at the same time very frightening. I'm still hoping something in me and my way of seeing things has fundamentally changed for the better. But knowing me and my off the top hop scotch flip a top way of thinking and living, I'll have forgotten this feeling by this coming Saturday. We'll see. If that's the case, it's my own fault, entirely. Over one decade ago I suggested we buy gold. My partner said "wait". I listened. We are still waiting. Today, my brother-in-law calls his sister (my partner) and says "I wanna buy gold". "Why?" his sister asks. "Our money will soon be worth less than wallpaper" he says. I come home and say, "honey, we need to buy a plot of land, very fertile land with a brook nearby or even better, one with a well on it". "Well, go ahead, smartass, buy one if you can find one. I've been looking for the past five years." It only took five minutes and the two of us were wrapped up in serious debate over how we're gonna get by ....once it all collapses. Reality has a way of ruining an otherwise good day. To ease the situation, I said, "hey, I have this film I gotta watch, wanna watch it with me....it's just another Russian like the one the other day with his cash cycle and barter cycle..." "OK". Half an hour into the film......................."I gotta go, choir practice". "See ya Babe", "yeah, later Love". Damn. At work today, Jan (another RBC member) said I must have swallowed a clown. Guess what. Jan is right. But Jan doesn't know this. The clown I swallowed was a sad clown.
Oleg Papov, Part 3, as a starter before the meal;

"I've been working on this theory since about 1995, when it occurred to me that the US is retracing the same trajectory as the USSR"

through Afghanistan !! Obama really needs to get a clue.

I think Orlov is hooked on the energy concept, which I believe is a red-herring. It is true that beneficial technology has grown with cheap energy, but things have changed. Energy is now about luxurious waste, and especially advertising, no longer technology.

That is the debate about the present collapse, it coincides with a huge energy cost spike.

My quick calculations show a possible 90-95% potential reduction, but that would cause deflation--a bad thing in some minds, especially the mind of a certain lawyer.

He also sees women as the practical survivors, and men as the whiners. Honey, things have reversed!
