Life in the Empire

A thread dedicated towards possible solutions rather than the rather pessimistic fare we engage in with much of our other communication.

hey guys, been like forever, but had to say hey and ask ya'll what the hell.....trump? Jesus!

Hello Maryann!  Assume you've emerged from "insurance hell?"

Got royally screwed, but it was a lawyer and an insurance company, so what can you expect. Hubby had to go on disability (broken back) but he's doing okay now.

Somehow my grandmother has managed to show her sour mug in all my mirrors too! lol

I have a lot of reading to do to catch up.

This Guy says we're all fucked anyway.  Of course others say, not so much.

As the Good Book(s) say(s): you never know when your hammer is going to fall... and when it does... you best be doing something righteous and not something nasty.

Kicking the hydrocarbon habit and overthrowing its overlords is the beginning of all that.

Florida has a solar energy amendment on the ballot....but it is one of those sneaky, duplicitous things that are written to sound like it is supportive yet does just the exact opposite.  I was fooled by it and didn't figure out until two days after I mailed in my ballot.  Sometime early voting isn't a good thing....

Same with my daughter, she also didn't actually figure out what they were saying till after she sent in her ballot. But she did tell me so I voted no.

Speaking of Florida law...or the lack there of: I watched a NOVA thing about sinkholes last night. Of course, Florida was featured due to the large number of housing developments built on top of 'em. It seems no one wants to test for the stability of land before developers do their developing. Too much revenue would be lost if landowners, developers and the government actually had to disclose problems ahead of time. The result is a lot of Floridians are living in homes that are getting swallowed up by mother earth.

You Florida peeps need to be careful out there. Sinkholes and gators oh my.

I'm sooo done with this state. If it's stupid they'll gladly vote for it. How about guns on college campuses,

yep, Florida voters are all for that, like drunk college kids are a good fit for gun toting. Jesus on every corner. There is a guy who stands on one of the busiest corners of a major through-fare with a mike screaming about the bible. Anti abortion sign holders and now Trump, along the sides of the same street, (hubby is pretty sure if he drove up on the sidewalk, you know, accidentally like, the IQ in the area would rise a little, he's old would be his excuse) This sorry excuse for a state is voting for that Cheeto comb-over, can't get scary-er then that!

You sound about as misanthropic as I am. But don't think Florida has an exclusive on stupidity. It's everywhere now. The entire American zeitgeist is starting to resemble the dark ages as we descend into various forms of tribalism coupled with poverty, drugs and mythological belief systems. Much like England after the Romans left.

Can't say I think it matters much whether we get a buffoon or a criminal for our next president. I didn't vote for either. But I have enjoyed this election. Every morning I spend a couple of hours reviewing the daily reports on the Clinton crime family and their support network. It's great fun. Gonna miss it however this thing turns out.

I lived in Missouri for 4 years,  Idaho for 7 years, Kansas for one, and now am in Florida.   I'm making a tour of dumb as fuck states.

We were stationed in Brunswick Georgia, in 1970 for our first tour.  Two kids (17 and 20) from Pennsylvania thrown into the deep south. Want to talk about culture shock big time. First time we ever lived where the roads weren't paved and the people were....different. lol

It's Halloween! Peep the horror of Trump's Gettysburg Address!
