Life in the Empire

(how is this for a new thread?)

It is not the freshest news. But it is still breaking, people are still absorbing it ,and it all till needs context.

The filthy greedheads and the doomed can't have exclusive rights to this news territory. The insane and the loyal opposition must have their say as well.

My take - the Russian armada is going to bomb the living fuck out of Aleppo.  Not so much to help Assad as to show they can still break shit, and still matter in one of their few areas of influence outside of Russia.

Sebostabol/Crimea alreadytaken and those pieces are swatted off the chess board.
Then they will pass through the Suez canal to a favorite area of contemporary interest - the south china sea, to dock at the "chinese" island.
They will refit at Vizag (a top indian navy base), go hover around the "chinese" island in the spratleys, maybe some commando/fast boat/SEAL type training with the chinese there. then they go right by the senkaku islands on the way to vladivostick for winter.
just to show the world the BRICS aint nobody to fuck with.
Turkish PM Erdogan just "cleaned house," by firing about 40,000 people in government and shooting a
few hundred security, military and intelligence staff accused of being Gulen supporters.  some probably were, some probably were not, and Gulen's infleunce is not as profound as the govt makes it out to be. but he just bought himself 5 more years of unchallengable rule. and the ability to flip turkey out of NATO into the BRICS. I think it is very possible and could happen suddenly if it does.
Then much of eastern europe NATO (esp former ussr/Warsaw Pact) all quit too - because it is a stupid antiquated instiution that has not had a rational strategic reason of existence since the fall of the Berlin wall.  nato is not world's army the blue hats in the UN are.
Timing - Putin put them at sea when he knew he would have a four month window of no real response from usa because of the  elections.
They will have proved they are back as a true blue sea navy, anf kicked some ass, and shored up crucial geostrategic along the way.
I feel no portence of WWIII but instead feel this is a macho country saying "we be back motherfucka!"
and the advanced cyber and ground/space/ship-to-shore warfare eqpt of china, russia (less so india) is getting really good, and hits all the achilles heels of nato/USSA, efficiently, cheaply, and on the button.

tru dat waldo my man, and no disrespect ever intended to a great leader of our tribe.  hell, i just do cameos.  you and the other big posters put in the actual work of keeping this site interesting.

i just wish pizzagate wouldn't get totally tarred and feathered with trump supporters, alex jones (who has indeed gone nutty-he used to intrigue me), and the "fake news" meme.

pizzagate got banned at reddit

Agree, seems like everything right now is being interpreted as a political issue. Used to think the right had an exclusive on crazy, fanatical thinking, but since this election, I've come to realize that both sides are equally nuts.

While the right has a thing for conspiracy theories, the left seem proportionally locked in denial about anything that challanges their own belief system. Seems like this election has created an increase in tribalism I haven't seen since the sixties.

The election didn't create the increase in tribalism.  The tribalism was already there.

Pizzagate analysis has moved to another reddit type site...

Here's an interesting thread on state coordinated censorship.

Doesn't the 'fake news' narrative scare the shit out of you guys?

Have to agree that Obama's push to censor 'fake' news is pretty frightening.

I bet dollar to donuts this 1964 article gets mentioned in the MSM within the next 24 hours "The Paranoid Style in American Politics" -  Richard Hofstadter

"

Oh yeah, this guy.  "Fear is the mind-killer."  Somebody else said that.

The problem is not "bias" and the problem is not "trust." Unless it's "trust us to tell you exactly what we think you want to hear." Focus groups. Surveys. Polls. Truth? Feggadaboudit. Whose "Truth?" It's called "audience-based prose."
We teach it in schools. Suggest "Truth-based prose," and they'll laugh at you. Like they never heard of cross-checking or verifying.
Of course reading about global warming in People Magazine is not the same as reading about it in Nature. Probably not too many articles on global warming in People Magazine. Wonder why.  Black Dog got me real bad today.  All i wanna do is sleep.  Used to sit on the porch and just look at Jenny cause she was such a beautiful machine.  She reminded me of a Curtis Jenny... twitchy eccentric... but could climb like a homesick angel.  I was just learning to fly her properly.  Rock-steady 10mph at a nice steady 60 rpm cadence... over any terrain.  Developed a fondness for cutting across vacant lots.  That's how I learned about Goathead thorns.  Whatever.

It's the pain you feel when somebody stomps on your masterpiece... before anybody has a chance to see it.

Jill Stein seems to believe a conspiracy theory about the election as she is fundraising to launch a recount.

Seems a bit wierd that the dems would recruit Stein to challenge the election results. Wierder still that she would agree to do it after her criticisms of Hillary. But surely, nothing about this election was normal, and it just keeps on getting stranger.

That said, the MSM is the last place I go for unbiased reporting. I prefer fake news sites like Zerohege.

So you aren't taking your favored candidate's word at face value?  She claims that this isn't about putting Clinton in, it is about the electoral process itself.

This is as close as I can get to fighting with family about politics on Thanksgiving.  Pretty lame fight though...
