So we're back from our 'meh'-ico vacation. Cab San Lucas kinda sucked. My wife suggested going there because we had never been. Figured, what the hell...OK. Turned out to be the Las Vegas capital of Mexico. They even had a word for it...'Caboholic'. Pretty much the go to place to for drunks. Should have gone back to Puerto Vallarta.
Flying is getting worse too. Travelers are treated like cattle with long lines to get through security check points, as people are prodded through long ques by rude airport personel. Every opportunity to boost profits is being implemented, from automating every customer service function to the minimal creature comforts provided on the flight itself. The result is, a lot of angry Americano's who, as is typical, like to fight with each other instead of questioning who could be profiting from their misery.
We did receive a number of questions about what we thought of our new El Presidente. Our pat answer was none of us voted for him... and the overiding response was welcome to our world. Mexicans have been dealing with corruption for so long they were pretty sympathetic to Americans as they see the US as becoming as corrupt as their own country. That said, there was absolutely no animosity from them at all. Which is more than I can say about my fellow countryman. Maybe accepting human greed as our principal social dynamic is a genome Americans have yet to develop fully.
Oh well. Feels good to be home.

I have noted on almost all my travels that citizens of other nations understand the difference between Americans and the American government.

How is everybody doing while the whole world is going batfuck insane? Or more accurately- now that the USA IS batfuck insane. I have some really nasty Black Dog issues now... and losing Jenny didn't help. Haven't had the heart to finish the post... yet alone work on Gburg. How are you guys holding up?

Batfuck insane is pretty accurate. Rationality and truth have been replaced by hysteria everywhere. It takes great self-restraint to avoid commenting on the idiocy that I see from all sides -- especially in the media. So, for the most part, I've given up interacting with people.
I 'd been wondering how you were doing. Good to hear you're still with the living...as people our age seem to be starting to die off. Maybe that's just my own projection as I stop to think how limited my own time probably is. Too bad we never learned to treat each other better.
Might as well wait and write about the new civil war.

Still here in the Southern Hemisphere with a whole black dog pack - have taken to feeding them... even black dogs need friends. This Trump thing is scary - i keep thinking maybe I'm reading the Onion. The video clip where he met the Obamas at the White House & left Melania at the car says a lot about the beast. Not just you guys in the USA affected. The USA going under like that makes me wake up with a feeling of great doom every day.
He's planning to cut international aid by 40% ... maybe that will wean the developing world into it's own creative solutions ... ? Or not.
So sorry you lost Jenny, Waldo.

So far Black Dog is consuming a steady diet of dope, beer and cigarettes. And the Med biz wants me to quit all three... (except pre$cription$ of coss). Why? So i can "live longer?"

Have started a collaborative performance project with some of my favorite performers in Australia, Canada, Latvia (though he currently is in Brazil), Idaho, Georgia, and Florida. Last session was really successful - had me on quite a high.
Still don't have a real job yet - starting part-time teaching dance and theatre for kids, many are autistic, I am enjoying that but it isn't really fulfilling.
Been digging up sod to plant - we have planted a Myers lemon, tangerine, pineapple, pineapple guava, grapefruit, pawpaw, persimmon, blackberry and blueberry bushes, a small vegetable plot and quite a few native perennials to attract pollinators. Also planted quite a few camelias in the back shady area. Getting dirty knees is good for the soul.
