Life in the Empire

(how is this for a new thread?)

It is not the freshest news. But it is still breaking, people are still absorbing it ,and it all till needs context.

The filthy greedheads and the doomed can't have exclusive rights to this news territory. The insane and the loyal opposition must have their say as well.

My take - the Russian armada is going to bomb the living fuck out of Aleppo.  Not so much to help Assad as to show they can still break shit, and still matter in one of their few areas of influence outside of Russia.

Sebostabol/Crimea alreadytaken and those pieces are swatted off the chess board.
Then they will pass through the Suez canal to a favorite area of contemporary interest - the south china sea, to dock at the "chinese" island.
They will refit at Vizag (a top indian navy base), go hover around the "chinese" island in the spratleys, maybe some commando/fast boat/SEAL type training with the chinese there. then they go right by the senkaku islands on the way to vladivostick for winter.
just to show the world the BRICS aint nobody to fuck with.
Turkish PM Erdogan just "cleaned house," by firing about 40,000 people in government and shooting a
few hundred security, military and intelligence staff accused of being Gulen supporters.  some probably were, some probably were not, and Gulen's infleunce is not as profound as the govt makes it out to be. but he just bought himself 5 more years of unchallengable rule. and the ability to flip turkey out of NATO into the BRICS. I think it is very possible and could happen suddenly if it does.
Then much of eastern europe NATO (esp former ussr/Warsaw Pact) all quit too - because it is a stupid antiquated instiution that has not had a rational strategic reason of existence since the fall of the Berlin wall.  nato is not world's army the blue hats in the UN are.
Timing - Putin put them at sea when he knew he would have a four month window of no real response from usa because of the  elections.
They will have proved they are back as a true blue sea navy, anf kicked some ass, and shored up crucial geostrategic along the way.
I feel no portence of WWIII but instead feel this is a macho country saying "we be back motherfucka!"
and the advanced cyber and ground/space/ship-to-shore warfare eqpt of china, russia (less so india) is getting really good, and hits all the achilles heels of nato/USSA, efficiently, cheaply, and on the button.

My problem with the terminology "deep state" is that precisely because it is defined as a shadow government it is not well-defined so that when any of us use the term it may mean very different things to each of us.  Ellsberg's use of it as the career intelligence community is very specific and puts a limit on it but my understanding of the term is much broader and closer to the popular fictions about the Illuminati.

(The$Party) IS the "deep state."  You know- "TPTB- the powers that be."  They've been invisible ever since anonymous anarchists started killing bejeweled aristocrats at the turn of the last century. Now the rats are coming topside as the hull fills with sludge... scurrying about in their new territory.

Guam is an unincorporated United States territory... not a "colony." Oh no. Because Imperialism is uncool (see WWI). Not as uncool as slavery (see US Civil War)... but still uncool- so we have to call it something else. Likewise, wars of aggression (see WWII) are way uncool. But "military involvement?" Why the polls say that's just dandy. If you're marketing omnicide like toothpaste.

For "profit:" the usual reason for slavery, imperialism, wars of aggression, etc.. The part about "losing your soul" gets drowned out by the booster club bawling about "muddering babbys." Compare budgets: Planned Parenthood vs. Pentagon. Math to dogs. Because "...we're an empire now. We create our own reality." Forget what we learned at Nuremberg at the cost of 50 million human lives.

Meanwhile, the looting goes on unabated.

Hm. Like "preemptive" nuclear war? Like packing the "government" with Generals and Banksters ("military-industrial complex") while almost 1/2 country is poor?
At least (The$Party)-R has abandoned the pretense of "promoting general welfare" while (The$Party)-D continues to parrot talking-points that mean nothing. That's why the (-D) "lost" the "election" (along with cheating, gerrymandering, etc.).
Welcome to the collapse of "capitalism." We now have a "government" of talking-head celebrity sock-puppets controlled by (The$Party).

It was the beginning of the end with OTC Derivatives.

I betcha you guys are gonna like this story about Mike Baldwin the "shrugman."

"the meme community"....it pains me how the definition of meme has devolved into a social media pic with words.

I was just happy to see "meme" join the mainstream lexicon in my lifetime!  Sure got bashed around in academia about that "trendy new theory" 15 years ago.

I'll be enjoying the game on the field until I get smacked in the head by the ball. If only people could get this...

Pretty certain that the state isn't focused upon repressing the alt-right at this time....

DOJ demands Files on Anti-Trump Activists.

Plenty in government still support the neoliberal globalist agenda that's generating a lot of the Nazi hysteria. That's Ajamu's point. Here's one of the few rational articles I've read that describes the political dynamics at work.

Trump's Neo-Nazis and the Rise of Illiberal Democracy

https://www.truthdig.com/articles/trumps-neo-nazis-rise-illiberal-d...

The irony of fascists who are supposedly nationalists supporting the vision of McWorld neo-liberalism demonstrates that Corporatism is far more enticing to these folks than any vision of a fatherland returned to the utopia of past glories imagined. But then, neo-liberalism was always envisioned as fascism on a global level.

and...thanks for the link....this is a good article.

(No wonder centrists say it’s a meaningless insult: they’re the ones most meaningfully insulted by it.)
