(how is this for a new thread?)
It is not the freshest news. But it is still breaking, people are still absorbing it ,and it all till needs context.
The filthy greedheads and the doomed can't have exclusive rights to this news territory. The insane and the loyal opposition must have their say as well.
My take - the Russian armada is going to bomb the living fuck out of Aleppo. Not so much to help Assad as to show they can still break shit, and still matter in one of their few areas of influence outside of Russia.

I had to be in AFM for years and have seen how unions go bad. Had to work with board-level management too, and watched them screw up. Democracy isn't perfect. Capitalism isn't perfect. But these are abstract nouns. Labor and management is/ are people. They can work together... or they can pick sides.
Profit and jobs are a by-product. The product is the mission. Abstract and concrete, individual and collective are paradoxes. Words are tools we have to deal with the paradox... like running and hiding and fighting for both predator and prey. Lumpers and splitters need to embrace the paradox. Paradox is not free choice.
The choice is that you have no choice. Freedom isn't free.
The choice is to embrace the paradox rather than the dichotomy.
Petri: you got that right: "...the universe we know well." What I didn't know is what a Tamagotchi was. "The Tamagotchi (たまごっち) [tamaɡotꜜtɕi] is a handheld digital pet, created in Japan..." (wiki) Showing my age, I guess. Digital pets where kinda on the radar... but this one wasn't. Stupid rich pricks who run businesses? Well, who hasn't worked for one of those? We all know that drill by heart.
There are those who think the USA is a business (it ain't)... and that the business of America is business (maybe)... as long as it delivers what the customers want. That ain't happening. A more perfect Union makes belonging to the collective desirable for the individual. Who wants to work for an incompetent rich prick? Most of us want to better ourselves by making it better for each other.
Nuclear war as entertainment makes this old cold war child cry.
What we know/ believe of Consciousness... is about as developed as anything else. It's turtles all the way down. Imagine a civilization advanced thousands of years ahead. Have you ever talked to your dog? What do you suppose they detect with their superior nose and inferior words?
Have you discussed "...the state or quality of awareness, or, of being aware of an external object or something within oneself..." with Kolob? Star-level beings are among us... but we cannot detect them yet. With Machine intelligence, we can. It is in front of you right now... like a big black wet nose.
Can you see it? It too, is alive. Where do dead prophets go? Do we have any idea? Ask a Bristlecone pine... and say hie to Kolob. We miss our friends. But they wag in an old Airstream by Lake Superior... over some Rainbow Bridge. And dig the irony... RBC is red blood corpuscles. Then they want to stick a tube up your ass.
it is untidy in the garden. doglet has started a new tunnel, oh, didn't tell you i rescued the hedgehog, which had remained a ball of bristles throughout, and after a while of still contemplation, refusing the offer of a cardboard box, melted into the night.
used to buy the loveliest trousers and skirts from this neck of the woods...https://youtu.be/XEHlTxPbZ6g
I think it was on that channel I saw the vast loaded lorries carrying the machinery of production looted from Syria's new industrial estates, trundling towards Turkey last year.
Recent news from Sweden continues to perplex and horrify, my father was descended from the Viking invaders who settled in the North Country, and I see his face if I look in the mirror.
hmm, the Syrian story, just found this old interview with a Syrian nun which is deeply moving
and UK Column has continued its coverage of this story. Just a few weeks ago the brave Vanessa Beeley was expriencing a new barrage of interrmittent weapons being fired into Damascus, and came back to deliver a bulletin from Portsmouth which I've been looking for.
but in the meantime a little bit of how British money has been spent here, in this case East Aleppo.
Last year when Aleppo was liberated, and the terrorists who had been firing rockets for so long at the rest of the city were defeated at last, the BBC were describing it as a tragedy. Meanwhile Vanessa Beeley was interviewing children in Aleppo, whose smiles are still engraved upon my memory.
as for the ruination of Europe, what is happening is so unbearable. For example, the Italian Mafia gave over control of prostitution in certain areas, to the Nigerian Mafia...
I was mending the gate again last night, using a wax medium for lack of wood filler, to repel water and protect it from the frost.
