the city guy (pop 450) has cattle, not fed crap, and he gave us a couple of dumptruck loads of soil and aged manure for about 40 bucks, and we put it right on top of our marginal soil.  we had bought the wood a few years ago, when we had a little more money.  the tires are all from our old vehicles that always needed new ones soon.  we will have tons of potatoes.  i started all the potatoes, broc, cabbage, peppers, squash, peppers, etc in the greenhouse.  next year i will start more and sell on the side of the road!  the farmer's mkt started a week ago, so it could be where i sell too.  onions were sets, dry and wet, and seeds.  garlic was bulbs.  i started asparagus too, but just to see if i could.  hint: broadcast your carrots, radish, turnips, to keep from much thinning.  oh, we got local strawberry plants, too.

anything you plant is good.

patrick just walked around the 15k house, says if we had 15k we would buy it!

well, not to beat a dead republican, but life is good here!  we bought the lot across the street for 500 bucks.  hope to plant it too, next year.

we've had fresh mixed salad greens for 4 for 7 days, not sure how much we saved, but they are more tender, and out of the garden for about 5 minutes when we eat them.  i highly recommend.
