Lived in Rancho Mirage for a school year.  We lost our shared position at one Uni in Carson, Ms. Medusa got rotated out of a part-time gig at another Uni in LA which only left us with my part-time gig in San Bernardino.  So we moved into the desert in a friends concrete block, non-air conditioned house.  Medusa got a sabbatical replacement for a semester in Michigan so I stayed in the lands of golf courses and plastic surgeons.

We used to take hikes up the alluvial fan alongside the concrete waterway but, against all city codes, some rich fuck who made his billions from clearcutting Washington state bought up the whole shebang, fenced it, built a private 18 hole golf course and hired his own army of private security to guarantee that no one had access to the mountains behind his property.

The whole area is watered by diverting river water from Colorado into an aquifer - the locals then claim that they aren't getting their water artificially.  The alluvial fans' ecology is being threatened by grass - seeds from all the local golf courses are carried by water and wind.

There was a Spudnut shop in my home town when I was growing up - my oldest brother worked there for awhile - didn't realize that there were any that were still left able to compete against Krusty Kreme and Dunkin' Doughnots. A blast from the past. Kinda like the old Maid-Rite loose meat shop that was near the old Junior High that now is the new city hall......

I can look over my shoulder right now and see the Ronald Reagan Expressway... good way to transition to...
Not many details....25 protestors were arrested in the Mirage Ranch and put in Indio overnight.
Compared to the middle-east eruptions, it kinda pales in comparison don't it?

too early to tell.  this is only the beginning of the beginning.  hard to imagine a generation as clueless and air-headed as this one... but think about it... and compare them to the kids born with the explosion of the industrial revolution... or far more subtle and perhaps equally important-- the "ideology/state" revolution... let's say- kids born in 1848 and 1948.

Look at the "beginnings" and the "flash-point."  they are centuries apart.  the "flash-point" is what we're talking about here. "Agrarian" to "Industrial," "Capitalism" to "Socialism."  "Industrial" flashed in 1860, "Socialism" flashed in 1960 (HUGE generalization and all the appropriate disclaimers here).  Rifled musket.  Internet.

Momma said they'll be days like this, they'll be days like this, my Momma said.

who knows, democracy could find a foothold here! maybe the right to assemble and accurate reporting of said numbers, the elimination of rigged elections. i look forward to the spread of this to the west.

Stone is on top of it... weirdness that bumps up against "almost metaphysical."   You'd think the wubbas would be freakin out about it here in krakkkerland... but they're busy running their snow-blowers next door... sounds almost like the gas-engine snarl of Summer- except the snow continues to fall... and I haven't been able to get out of the drive (lately).  can't shovel, y'know... or push.  right.  sides that, the krakniks are all hyped bout the stoopid bowl... like they spozeda be... but eye specks they be hearin all that Armageddon hoopah come sonday church unless they skippin it to get fixins for the stoopidbowl party... which aint much different from the publican "party" round here.

eyes fairly isolated from da honks now... xcept for the chattiest i encounter on my way to the last few classes at the last skool.  stopped giving much of a honk about enlightening the wee spiders.  they doin ok on their own eye speck... and if they aint... they gonna have to.  "the boys" buggered off to go "winter camping" and lifted buncha my gear including (eye specks) my e-tool... but it's a good shake-down cruise for em.  yer either forum or gin em sezzeye.  ticker seems to have stabilized lately... but missed my lawyer appointment to deal with the predators on count of da snow.

St. Ronzo and da stoopid bowl... wots happenin here in krakkkerland.

Business as usual... with a few random dribs and drabs of color

Dux yas yas... the slaves were "free" to leave the plantation... the Jews were "free" to leave the ghetto... and you are "free" to quit your "job," so y'see?  It's because people CHOOSE to be (poor... criminals... fags- whatever) that they make the "wrong choices" (which gets into "free-will" and a whole lot of other angel-dancing pinheads) that the krakkkers love to sift and parse.  Wait until their fucking electricity goes out.  Eye specks there will be a lot of "2nd Amendment Rights" popguns brought into play (briefly) over their own sacred "freedum" to cheap ass-paper.

sorry... i seem to keep channeling the incident a while back when one of the brave neighbors threatened to shoot our playful puppy... who had neighbor frozen in fright on his (i imagine) fitness run.  i laced him up, derided him down and called him everything but a whiteman.  "Whatchoo got right now- this minute?  Nothing?  Then you talkin shit... bark bark... just like playful puppy... except eye specks you aint so playful or benign."  Neighbor promised to return... and I took him seriously... anticipating future chain of events after dropping deedle-head where he stood... thus a far more productive and collective "management" of this site.

Perhaps it will all work out like that.

Here's a trend I seem to have noticed over the past 10 years or so of "teaching college English:" (generalizations/ disclaimers/ yaddah blah)

White students, mostly female, are majoring in Nursing because that's where (they think) the "jobs" are.

Black students (ALL genders) are majoring in "Criminal Justice" for the same reason.

"Reality" (whatever THAT is) does not seem to be much of an issue.,,, except for the dwindling number of bright white male students.  Most of them seem to notice the bullshit in "science" publications and are growing more cynical by the day.  It seems that a significant number drop out after their first year.  Our loss... well, not mine because I am thinking more these days of my home beyond the stars.  YOU firgurre ir out.

Good Night.

Breath, heartbeat; lulling litanies echoing the deepest oceans of infinite being.
