Well, one can but laugh.
These are the same trees that you see in the last group of photos I posted, that lovely little avenue of dappled shade.
When you see how pretty they were, and have been lovely so all the 25 years I've lived here, I cannot see how it was necessary to do so dreadful a deed as that.
No doubt they will have reasons, as they had reasons for stifling the beautiful sound of the bells that used to ring out across the villages of this wide and shallow valley.

Heartbreaking it is to see the growing pains England is going through. Being there I felt a kind of "Homeland" connection that must be felt by English-speaking people all over the world.

A guide in Westminster Abbey noticed me mum and I looking at something with keen interest. "Excuse me," she said, "are you English-speaking people?" "I'm not sure," I answered. "We are Americans." She laughed. It IS a good joke among us cousins.

Then there were the Welsh... and of course the Scotts... and I found the Ulster Irish to be quite mad. But "...there will always be an England." If England means as much to you as England means to me...
