Both Ms. Medusa and I are amazed at the vast numbers of students we have who are just daring us to fail them. They just won't do the work. And we strive to make it less threatening and cajole and plead and extend deadlines and.....they just won't do the work.

Just for clarification: My memory of my virgin voyage into Berkeley was from 1981.....at least 20 moves ago....currently in Idaho trying to make this place work.

Recently told my students about how, as a freshman learning how to flunk out of school without even trying, I used to turn the lights off, light a candle, pour a glass of wine, sit alone in my dorm room, turn on Joni's Blue and fully indulge in my late teenage angst. Joni is good for a good cry.....
When Ms. Waldo and I first got together, "Blue" sorta fell thru the cracks for me... until she said, "...you're in my blood like Holy Wine..." yeah-well-whatever... but then, "...I can drink a case of you... and still be on my feet..." -well-fekkin AWRIGHT... me TOO... and so we got extended kidniks stinkin' up da basement-kid-pit to this day... and so far, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah, Panno... it DOES seem like they're DELIBERATELY trying to "flunk out," and HA... so I "move the bar" so they can't... and then they adapt- and maneuver me into the same position again! I dunno what kind of "political moves" are goin' on, but it seems to get their "tcket pinched" for the least amount of "work" possible-- and who could blame them? "
I don't care about how much the maneuver the bar aroune. What I DO care about is punching the ticket of lock-step Hitler Jugend stoopid-fux and "rewarding" them for the very same.

BUT== that seems ti be the "outcome base."
"Sit down, Waldo!"

Madoff son found dead in NYC in apparent suicide

NEW YORK — The older son of infamous Ponzi scheme architect Bernard Madoff was found dead early Saturday, after he apparently hanged himself on the second anniversary of the multi-billion dollar scam that victimized thousands of celebrities, charities and average investors.

Don Van Vliet aka Captain Beefheart.

oh shit, no, no, no.............

last week, I was thinking of Don as I opened a few more than I should've and shoved the contents down my ever thirsty throat. While doing so, I videogoogled Don & Beafheart and anything I could find along the line, all the while thinking about what cuz had said. Don had been in bad health for the past few years, unable to attend a few meet ups put on by the others. This is really sad and in a weird way, a happy day. I believe death is a new beginning. I kinda think Don saw it that way too.

Thanks, pan for posting.
