Life in the Empire

Interesting news day today. Here's a summary:

1. The US plans to shoot down a [supposedly] dying satellite before it spins out of orbit and kills millions. The real news: The US wants to test a new anti-ballistic missile. I'm sure the Russians and Chinese are thrilled.

2. Another college shooting. Hardly news-worthy anymore now that they've become so common. Question is: Has it become too risky to send your kid off to college?

3. The housing market is still fucked. And getting fucked-ter. People walking away from their homes in droves. Prices expected to come down another 25%.

4. The fed was all over the teevee today telling people the economy wasn't doing so well and bond insurers might start to default soon. The real news: Depression on the way. Fasten your seat belts, folks. Oh wait, I forgot about the rebate. Yeah right, that'll save us.

5. And my favorite: All misplaced Katrina folk have to move out of their FEMA trailers due to formaldehyde poisoning--all 35,000 of 'em. How ironic. Gee, I wonder what effect this might have on the mobil home/RV industry? And of course, the lawyers are all over it.

Did I miss anything?

Signed it. Not sure how much a citizen from a debtor nation is going to influence China.
Done.

"Not sure how much a citizen from a debtor nation is going to influence China."

A boycott of China-made goods would help. I ain't giving up my Mac, though.

So many abuses, so many petitions...but I'll keep signing them--no matter how futile.
You don't wanna read this unless you can handle the truth. To think I used to work for that Company. Scarey stuff.
I wasn't surprised by it. Of course there still is the old-fashioned abridgement of rights that they can always fall back on....
Little video from ABC about racism against Muslims.

Starts out showing Amerikans supporting racist bullshit and then, like all good merikcan media, spins a positive side. But their little experiment shows that, from their sample, most will just be passive and let abuse happen.
But then, when Obama felt to insert a little anti-muslim sentence in his speech about racism what do you expect?
Japanese Member of Parliament is a 9/11 truther, is trying to push the U.N. to investigate the cause of the death of 24 Japanese citizens at the World Trade Center.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing a few wall-streeters doing the frog march.

Housing crisis brings Wall St arrests, veto threat

But it's never enough. Not only will the crooks, Greenspan, Bernanke, Paulson never be charged with anything, but the 100's of arrests that happened today are just a drop in the bucket when you think of the millions of consumers and lenders that defrauded the system--from top to bottom.

Too bad the USA doesn't have citizens anymore. Citizens share responsibility for their country. Consumers couldn't care less -- as long as they get a good deal. And It's every consumer for themselves. If you can get ahead by cheating, then good on you. It's predatory capitalism, and it's what we got.

So now we're all living in a Martin Scorsese film--whether you like it or not--and I just can't get my head around the fact that these guys actually do exist outside of the movies. They do. And they're just as cunning and sociopathic as anything Scorsese could conjur up.

But unlike the movies, there's no good guy to keep them in check. And there'll be no happy ending. They've destroyed our future and the futures of several generations yet to come. The money that they've sucked out of the system will never be returned. And millions of families will suffer directly from their actions.

Might as well enjoy the small photo of the crook doing the perp walk that accompanies the news story. We've all paid a small fortune for it.
Now for an "OH DUH!" moment

GM to halt major overhaul of pickups, SUVs
By JEFF KAROUB, AP Business Writer

DETROIT - General Motors Corp. is indefinitely halting a major overhaul of its full-size pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles as it deals with a drastic drop in sales of those products.

GM spokesman Tom Wilkinson said Thursday the automaker instead will work on more modest updates and enhancements as it shifts resources toward higher-mileage vehicles. The move has been largely spurred by skyrocketing gas prices that have radically changed customers' buying habits, he said.

Round here, pimped-out Expeditions and Escalades is all the Blacks and Third-worlders drive while us downsized white folk can't even afford to gas-up the Aveo.

Seriously. I don't know how they do it.
Total Collapse of the Global Economy... hey that oughta be fun. After 9-11, why Afghanistan? . wulll gooolll-lee do ya spoze there's a CONNECTION? Is it getting so obvious that even the Bulletheads can see it??? Will they pop to the fact that "Today, a minority directing giant corporations and backed by police...?" Naahhh. At least 59 million of us are too fucking dumb. Or maybe they hope they'll get a job outside the wire when the kamps are activated.

Shit fire. We could use some GOOD news.
A quote from someone responding to the total collapse video...

TheyLive2012

"yeah but ask yourself, put yourself in their shoes...looking at the mindless idiots out there, who are only begging for their enslavement, wouldn't you want to give them what they ask for?

people don't care...plain & simple..willful ignorance coupled with constant propaganda reinforces the belief system.

Even when they rape & loot the wealth of the people, most will bend over for some more, and thank the new world order for all they've done for them

I see it everyday, selling out is in."

Have to agree. If you want to thank someone for the situation you're in, thank your neighbor first. 59 million of us may be too fucking dumb to get it, but I know a bunch who do, but go along with 'the program' just because they're too lazy or self-centered to do anything about it. Someone else will take care of it. Mommy always did.

Narcissism is worse than ignorance methinks. And US culture has honed narcissism to an art.
