Holy shit ! This song is very very popular. No wonder I liked it. While awakening out of my midday slumber, with this song coming out of the radio, the Dusty Springfield version - which I think is the best of all versions I've heard thus far - my friends had left me and as I was walking to the edge of the street, I looked down and I saw a coin. As I reached to pick the coin up, I saw another coin. I reached to pick the second coin up and yet another coin came into sight. A scene from my early childhood flashed through my head. It was 1965 or maybe 66. I was at a picnic, a very large picnic. The company my father was working for threw these picnics each summer. For the little ones like me, there was the "penny hunt". A few dollars worth of pennies were thrown into a much larger pile of sawdust from the factory. I went apeshit over that. Money for nothing !? Hell yes. The Tom Jones version is the one I most likely heard first. Perhaps the Dusty Springfield version but the original, I heard today for the first time, and now, I know how powerful dreams can be and how sharp our senses are while we are barely awakening.
