Life in the Empire

We don't need another / a new discussion to prove it.

It is as it is.

Let this "fred" (discussion thread) live under the theme .......

long live this family

brothers, sisters, brethern, dogs, cats and birds, ants and flees, water and air and gas and Clare and Jim and him and the window Simm (??) and you and me and he and she and we and them and us and puss (???) and fish and the dish (it's on) and paper and pen.

Proof that most human beings have the equivalent emotional IQ of a reptile.

Been running errands today--getting ready for our trip. Seems the collapse becomes more evident the more encounters one has with the service industry. Could hardly understand the dudes at Jiffylube today. Seems there's a new kind of language developing in the US that mainly consists of grunts and slurred speech which is only intelligible amongst those under 30. I find myself having to ask them to repeat what they said constantly. I don't think it's because my hearing is failing. It's because there's some sort of new language developing among the lower classes that resembles a kind of ghetto-based pig latin.

Of course, general sociopathy is on the rise as well, and as a result, driving itself has become a lot more risky. Saw two accidents in the course of two hours--one, a hit and run--and witnessed some pretty amazingly stupid maneuvers...a motorcyclist who cut me off, going twice the speed limit, who then proceeded to stomp on his brakes with a broken tail light. Came pretty close to flattening that guy. Then, a woman who used a left turn pull out to make a u-turn. Only problem was, it was a left turn pullout for traffic going the other way. As luck would have it, a car going the opposite direction just happened to need it too. Oops. A mexican standoff. I could go on.

It's beginning to perplex me as to how this society manages to keep functioning. The US epidemic of stupidity and sociopathy has become way more pronounced then I could ever have imagined--even 10 years ago. 20 years ago we lived in a nice middle-class neighborhood. Now we live on the set of Idiocracy. It's like some third-world people bomb has gone off and replaced all the old WASPy types with neo-feudalistic ghetto dwellers. Not that I'm not thankful my own family hasn't experienced any major financial setbacks, but either the middle-class is disappearing at a rapid pace, or we didn't get the memo telling us that it was time to move.

Oh well, at least the weather's nice today.
I've been buying English pressed glass on ebay. There's some with the air of a boiled sweet in green that makes me laugh when I see it. Yesterday a fine example of this arrived, very heavy and curvaceous, reaching upwards and outwards. It now sits on top of a delicious pedestal bowl in thick green sweet which stands within the prettiest frilly blue concoction of clear and sandblasted bowl embossed with blue glass blackberries on top of an elegant and restrained blue glass cake pedestal.
If money were a substitute for taste, you'd be a rich woman, Mouse.
paging william randolph hearst~

These are my new construction toys in the light of the setting sun.
Oh my, Mouse, they truly are an explosion of color, aren't they.
I just watched 'RKO 281' about the making of CK.
ok... first i'm going to share one of my guilty pleasures: Heather and Jeff... my absolute favorite cyber-rednecks. I love these guys. It seems like Jeff turned Heather on to some ordinance... and she took to it like a duck. Check it out.
Second: it seems that our deep-friend Curt has nibbled the bobber. I don't know where he's been... or why he stayed away so long... but it aint nonna my beezwax. I just hope he puts more stuff here for us to read.

Third: I am seriously worried about LOM who is living on a sandbar that could be swept away in seconds by a possible supersonic methane-generated tsunami. I know what it's like to have no bread to move. I tried to convince my immediate fam to gtf outta here 7 years ago when we could possibly do it. We still can... but not on the same "comfort level." Not even close. And the Jungenvolk are determined to stay where they are... dig in... and adapt and improvise. They are probably correct. I don't know.

Anyway... Curt... don't be a stranger, y'hear?
Who you callin' a stranger?

I think I had stuff set up to keep anyone from seeing my page and all that and I think I've lifted that veil. Not sure. You guys have to be the judges of that. I've been here a little and there a lot. I had some real fun pissing Tiedrich off on Smirking Fork. I think Bo was following it from the sidelines. My "Boycott Israel" thread on SC hit over 100 comments and 1000+ reads before asshole deleted it. I asked him if he had deleted or hidden it and why. Never got an answer so I bombarded his site with more truth about Gaza and he banned my ass. Of course it hurt a little but only because I hit the floor so hard as I fell down laughing my ass off rolling on the floor. You know, ROFLMWAO. W stands for White.

I finally made it over east last Saturday. Saw Observation Point Alpha for the second time in my life and the first time as a civilian. The first time I saw it, I had to go see it. That was in 79. Rode my bike all the way to Eisenach and back. My butt still hurts.

By the way, we're having a heatwave here. Hotter than ever. Sposed to get up to 38 C today. Oh, and I'll be in the states in Aug, Sept. with our youngest son. Gonna take my parents back home and put what's left of em in a grave in Silverdale, Ks. It's gonna be a real trip for the kid. His first flight, his first time in the USA, a car drive from Az. to Ks. and back and alll them there relatives. Shiiiitt!

About me, I was a little shaken up when Mom died, tried to keep Dad going and it sounded like he was okay until we both realized we were dreaming and he wasn't fit enough to take a road trip with me. A couple of things happened, like him forgetting to take his meds and he ended up in hospital a few times before he gave up altogether. It still bothers me and I have a load of guilt to brush off my shoulders cause it aint doin' no one no good.

Time to look forward while lookin' back. I really hate to go back in time but sooner or later, ya gotta face the facts, look in the mirror and go back home. It'll be fun as long as I can keep seeing it all through my son's eyes.

Another by the way, I'm now officially an old fart. Turned 50 in May. Hotdamn!

curt
60 is the new 50, by the way.....
BO mentioned your activity at S.C. I was surprised that you (and BO) hadn't been banned already. I read Rossini's posts over there.....enjoyed them immensely.

Has AARP sent you your membership card? Or do they constrain their solicitations to the American border?

My dad turned 89 today. Mom turned 88 in February. Visited them a month ago. It was good to see them but I was reminded why I moved across the country and limited my visits to about once every three years. Now that they are older I am trying to call regularly and visit more often. I love them but they drive me crazy.
