FBI reviewing Tasering of sleeping man; no charges file

The Associated Press

NORTH BRADDOCK, Pa. - Two North Braddock police officers won't face criminal charges for Tasering a man who was asleep at home. But the FBI will review the incident for possible civil rights violations.

Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. says county police determined Officers Gerard Kraly and Lukas Laeuricia (loo-REE'-see-uh) didn't commit a crime when they Tasered Shawn Hicks, who was sleeping on his couch.

Police came to Hicks home because they were alerted by a silent security alarm at his home about 2 a.m.

Hicks says the officers Tasered him again after he woke up and showed them ID to prove he lived at the home. Hicks' attorney says he will pursue civil action.

Just started rehearsals on Migrant, the men's piece from Train. The wife is doing a women's section, On the Backs of Our Mothers. We have a conceptual meeting with our collaborating artists. One is a composer I met from S.C. Laikamichal was his handle there. The performance installation will go up in May. The two Arts Commissions extended our contracts to June 1 so we have funding to do it.

Waldo - I just sent my cast copies of your poem Tacoma. I'm still hoping that you are willing to let us use it for Train.. I will have to get your name and snail mail to send you your royalty check. One thing that would be really helpful is if you could post it here with hyperlinks to some of your specific references (Job Carr was one I didn't know).

Maybe I can get Bo down here to see how the reconstruction on the space turned out.
Yeah, I'd like to see it.

Curious, what did you use to hook the floor together?
We sawed off all the sleepers - Chuck rigged up a jig - even with the jig it was a pain in the ass that took a long time. He works in a cabinet making shop so he asked his co-workers to saw up scrap 3/4 ply into 4" strips so the new sleepers were pre-sawn to width and, better yet, FREE! The joints were uneven because sawing the old sleepers off was not a precise operation so we had to use lots of plastic wood and sanding to make them smooth. Not as pretty as it was at the old space but it works.
"what can "we" do to stop the madness?"

Don't participate in it. Try to convince others not to participate in it as well.
Yes, that's the thing to do, help the young ones to invent a better future.

Thirty years ago I had a quote up on my wall along the lines that we should remember we are writing messages to people who may not have been born yet.

It is so important for us to keep our spirits in good form and our energy flowing. Nothing quite like action and encouragement for that.

I heard on the radio that the whole web is archived every day now.
We can't stop the madness... the fever will have to run its course... it will burn itself out. As ol spuds said...
It is not up to us to save our democracy, it is too late for that, it is up to either us or our children to destroy this beast and make a new democracy, their democracy, not the past's democracy.... and Grey Raven can tell ye himself about how his grandparents survived the Nazi time.

We will have to rethink the relationship between the individual and the collective... probably the types of collectives that exist and how they work together.
[U.K] Police have been given the go-ahead to use Taser stun guns against ...
The relaxing of restrictions on the use of the weapons comes despite warnings that they could trigger a heart attack in youngsters.
Germany: fucking copycats..........

Bavarian Police to be equipped (armed) with tasers.

Heard it on the radio yesterday. Damn. These people repeat all the mistakes their amerikkkan brethern have made. But as you can see from a mini exchange I just had with a retired police officer on OpEdNews, the police force is riddled with fear. They are afraid of shooting us, so for them, the taser is a welcome alternative. It can kill, yes, we've seen that. But gunshots cause for lots of blood. Cops hate to have to shoot people and then stand there and watch them bleed to death. I witnessed that first hand, once. Dude lost a lot of blood. Cop was fucking horrified by the fact the bullet came from his gun.
well... you were a lot nicer than I would have been (to "officer" whatever)... which is why I declined to respond. The cops aren't working for your safety any more than the "troops" are fighting for your freedom.
true, and I always seem to be the idiot who approaches a copper and asks stupid questions. I try
to be a wise guy, notice the fascist smirk on the face and try to back out of the cave with small talk. Each time I've had to do with the law, except MPs, I've had to apply a sort of psychology I would call ass-kissing ...just to get away without a ticket or being slammed. The MPs, I shit on and they beat my head in before literally throwing me in the slammer. German police......a complete race on their own. These fuckers carry UZIs and aren't one bit afraid to shoot your ass and watch the blood run into the gutter. That's why I can't understand the tazer thing. I'll have to interview a copper or two here to get behind it all. I think it's a money deal and nothing more.
