Kind of a bummer that Youtube doesn't suppy the old embed code for posting videos here. But alas, there's a site that will create it for you....http://www.gorissen.info/Pierre/files/YouTube_code.htm

I often think of Hannah Arendt's description of the 'banality of evil' when I think of our post-modern, social media crazed, zeitgeist. People going along to get along and bringing everything down to the least common denominator. And posting about it on Facebook. The result is abhorrent. to me...a constant flood of pornography reflecting the most base qualities of the human species. I believe it's only a matter of time before people start posting pictures of the dump they had today.

BTW, this is not a comment about your poem, Stonie. My comment was in response to the Bukowski video you posted.

that bukowski bit "punches in bunches!" i can't think of anything heavier except maybe the cohen story of isaac or the ecclisiates.

and you're right. we got along fine without all of this social media shit 20 years ago. are we better off now?

no. we are worse off. we are destroying ourselves. not us, here, but collectively, as a species, especially in the "first world," which everyone else wants to get to.

i don't see a way out.

I was aiming for this level.

Not an audience of one .... I've put it on my 01 Jan 2015 page ....

so I guess that takes the count to at least two,

and pan said thanks so that's three ....

RIP, 2014.

Welcome 2015: The year of the selfie-stick

Wishing all my friends here, an interesting new year. You know it's gonna be good.

Pan, when do you start the new job? Go Jayhawks!

Hippilly, happilly, who.. merrily making beads into the small hours after marvellous day with Small and Smaller, making beads too for play.
Maisy has been sick in the garden dark after all those fireworks for miles in the low hills.

Small is almost as tall as me.

A greenfly in search of sap is staggering across the table. Hurrah. So far so good!

Those are fun.  Jo is talking about not working for awhile next year and getting back into making various art things again.  Money-wise we worry but, for her heart and soul and health it might be the best investment for her to just not have to deal with the cruelties of the job place for awhile.
